Representing Everyone
I have always strived to represent and help anyone in East Londonderry. Gender, age, denomination and race are irrelevant, as they should be. If you have an issue and I can help, I will. The constituents of East Londonderry are my family and friends, they are my community and they are my priority. I will always work towards getting the best for EVERYONE in East Londonderry.
Supporting My Constituents
I care deeply about all my constituents from my next door neighbour to our soldiers fighting for their country in foreign climes. The welfare of my constituents is paramount and will always be at the top of my agenda as your MLA. This winter we experienced severe conditions that impacted everyone, particularly those whose utilities were cut off. As an elected representative I provided a link to government services to speed up the recovery for many who contacted me.
Supporting and assisting with the vulnerable in our society is a priority. I will continue to help those in need in our society and advocate measures that alleviate suffering.
Health
There have been rumours and counter-rumours about the future of the Causeway Hospital. Such rumours undermine the morale of a very dedicated and committed staff at Causeway. East Londonderry deserves the best in medical care and it is my intention to seek to maintain the present status quo and indeed enhance it.
Agriculture
The constituency has a rich farming and agricultural heritage. Two harsh winters and a competitive market have been difficult on our local farming community. As your representative I will encourage the growth of agriculture and rural development. I will assist in any way I can to ensure our farmers and rural workers are given the best opportunities to continue to farm world class produce.

Education
Northern Ireland continues to produce the highest academic results in the UK. East Londonderry boasts some of NI’s best schools, a fact that we should be proud of. Education is important and although we perform better than most, we cannot afford to become complacent. As your representative I will work with local schools to ensure that each child attains his or her full potential. Investing in our children is investing in Northern Ireland’s future.
Employment
Unemployment is growing in East Londonderry, as it is across the UK. I will work with others to encourage new investment and promote East Londonderry as an enticing venue for business which will bring new jobs. I will support young people and graduates looking for jobs. Our talented young people are the future and I will assist them through my own experience and my contacts to help them find placements and internships.
Economy & Investment
East Londonderry is in a good position to exploit business and employment opportunities. We are situated between Northern Ireland’s two main cities and airports; we have good infrastructure and a highly skilled workforce. We are a prime area for new investment. I will encourage new investment and entrepreneurship in the area. I will support and promote small local businesses, offering advice and using my available resources to help them succeed. New business means new jobs and a huge boost to our local economy.
Tourism
East Londonderry has every potential to be a world class tourist destination attracting more visitors,
investment and local jobs. We have Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty stretching from the Limavady’s Roe Valley to the breathtaking North Coast. The River Bann is so far an under-utilised tourism gem. Annual international attractions such the Milk Cup, the Portrush Air Show, the North West 200 and Limavady’s Jazz and Blues Festival are events to be proud of. As your MLA I will continue to champion the tourism product available here to create an exceptional visitor experience.
